Let’s simplify this, there are two guys player A & B;-BoKnows81 wrote: Tue Sep 23, 2025 8:38 am He threw 21 TDs and 15 Ints last year. That's what the OP was saying. Don't make shit up.
Player A has been a flop his whole career but had one good season on a stacked team
Player B was a flop for most of his career but the last 3 years of play has been at worst average
Both guys aren’t the answer & you aren’t in a position to draft a QB which would be the preferred option, who do you take?
Player B should be the answer all the time especially with this franchises history with one season wonder signings
I’m so glad we didn’t draft a QB because his growth would have been stunted behind this line which is 100% the issue
IMO should have sorted out the line before adding offensive pieces we didn't & now we’re in the shit

But why leave out the two most important factors when comparing the two? Age and compensation. That makes the easy decision grabbing Darnold. If they both would of given us the same results (as you say), then why pay more for one?CWood24 wrote: Tue Sep 23, 2025 8:49 am Let’s simplify this, there are two guys player A & B;-

FWIW I agree about the line and I don't necessarily disagree about both failing here under these circumstances. But you at least could build around Darnold and save a 3rd round pick in the process.

For as horrible as the line played Sunday, it’s a miracle Geno didn’t turn the ball over multiple times. That tells me he at least digests his mistakes and works towards fixing them
Hopefully everyone else can do the same

Don't backpeddal dude. You said we were embellishing his stats to make him look worse.NoClapsPlease wrote: Tue Sep 23, 2025 9:18 am Im not making up anything. Body of work matters.

Exactly,Go ask the SaintsThe Real CK wrote: Tue Sep 23, 2025 6:12 am Geno had one fluke year and since then hasn't been better than average.
A 21-15 TD-INT ratio is telling. For some reason, this franchise can't figure out that if a QB-hungry league drops a guy; buyer beware.

To those that shit on Geno, just think what he'd be doing behind what people would consider a good oline. WR's are open, Jeanty can run, it would be night and day. For him to do what he's doing is imo a compliment to him. Game one he had decent overall oline protection and PA helped and surprise he had a great game. Last two games have been embarrassing on the oline and thus he's fallen off. No surprise. This isn't a Geno thing, only the best running QB's and most powerful RB's ever to play the game could make something out of this. IMO he's done pretty well escaping the first pressure and rolling.

This ^ is exactly correct. This might be the worst line play I’ve ever seen. It’s not even talent, it’s complete confusion. We let free defenders on the QB and RB almost every play. With even decent line play I suspect Geno would be getting zero hate and Jeanty would be the early favorite for OROY.SkullCrusher wrote: Tue Sep 23, 2025 10:29 am To those that shit on Geno, just think what he'd be doing behind what people would consider a good oline. No one else? I don’t see a lot of people calling Jeanty a bust? They are saying maybe we should have fixed the line before drafting a RB but no one is calling him a bust. 144 yards through 3 games as the 6th overall pick seems busty BUT he is not because the line is complete ass. No one on offense besides the line deserves the majority of the blame.Opoponax50 wrote: Tue Sep 23, 2025 8:47 am No one else gets cut any slack. Tyree Wilson was being called a bust by week 3 of his rookie year. Minshew and O'Connell were getting torn up after their first losses. AND the O-line was shitty.
"Don't freak out!" Sure thing. It's only been being right about how shitty this team is for the last 2+ decades. Let's give 'em the benefit of the doubt this time and cut Geno Smith extra slack because.... ???

He had a good pass blocking line in Seattle? Were those high sack totals more on him than the line? He had a lot of them, every year there. Not being a smartass, but I just saw the high sack totals and figured bad pass blocking in Seattle.Attyla wrote: Tue Sep 23, 2025 8:48 am Cannot compare Geno in Seattle to Vegas. He had a lot of time to do what he did there and had a vastly better line. He has had 3 games here and our line has been really bad. Geno is not a world beater but he is better than anything we have had in a long time. He is just getting his feet under him and dealing with a line that is shabby. He is also dealing with an OC who does not match up well with his skill set.
Ive never, ever seen anything as bad as this line. Were first year expansion teams even this bad as the Raiders OL overall so far? I made it halfway through the 4th quarter and it felt even worse than the Monday night game.
Smith seems to have a polar opposite problem than Carr. Carr would often panic, sometimes even self sacking under pressure. Geno is determined to damn throw sometimes and could care less. Although this line is probably making him more fearful. It all seems like a fever dream right now.

Right he had poor blocking in Seattle and we were hoping we would improve on that.
But it looks like Seattle improved and we are worse.
Yeah I can't believe it but this may be as bad or gasp even worse that 2006, I would have felt that nearly impossible at a pro-level.
It's the complete misses happening often. There has to be some coaching change that can drastically fix these errors.

Sounds like he need a moat.
