20 million is a little steep. :grimmace:
That’s his ceiling IMO because he can’t be trusted to be consistent
That’s his ceiling IMO because he can’t be trusted to be consistent
Did make me think as a guy who has been ready to move on from Carr for about 5 years now, what would be the price that would make me want to keep him.

“Keep” probably being too strong a word. To me he’s an anchor at any price. He possesses weakness that doesn’t exist in a good leader, and a capacity to fail that keeps a loss just a few plays away.

Anyway, 5 to 8 mil seems about fair to me. Puts him in the Garoppolo/Mariota neighborhood.

40 mil next year.

That’s a rook QB and like 3 defensive starters.

It’s such an obvious decision.
Carr played very well overall against Seattle.

When will see that again? That's the question.

To keep Carr I'd say we need to see him throw 15 more TD passes over the rest of the season. To me, that would say that he's grasped the playbook and that we're more likely to do worse than better. That would put him at 34 TDs for the season.

But that damn cap number. Geez. I don't know how that doesn't wreck this team.
Of course we will, the pressure of the playoffs is almost non existent…

Tom Brady on SiriusXM said:

“And it’s not one player, it’s not one position. Football’s the ultimate team sport and I’ve always believed as a leader you always take the blame and you always give the credit. And that’s just, I always feel like that because really that’s what leadership is all about. I always look at what I need to do better.

“I had a chance to hit Mike [Evans] down the sideline in overtime to win the game and I didn’t get it done. … You can give in to the outside noise and everyone telling you, ‘Oh, it’s not your fault, it’s someone else’s fault.’ I think that’s BS.

It is your fault when you lose and you take it personally when you lose. And you shouldn’t sleep at night when you lose. And you should only think about what you need to do to help the team more. And that’s what I lay in bed at night after games thinking about.”

Way different approach to when Carr was crying blaming his teammates.

The difference between being the goat and being a loser.

Carr finally broke his streak of of 31 regular season games without three TD passes on Sunday. In his career the Raiders are 15-6 when he throws three TDs in a game. Need to see it happen more often.

Hypothetically
Whos wins

Mahomes and 52 high school football players
Or
A High school QB with 52 pro football players.

The HS QB wins this Hypothetical game
Thus the HS QB is better than Mahomes because he has more wins.

Rest of team doesn't matter

1-0

Go

Yes, he played well this week but what are we getting next week? No-one knows. Way too inconsistent for the amount of money he's getting.

We can get his level of production for way cheaper. It makes NOOOO sense to keep him.

It's well past time to move on.

Metal toughness is more difficult to achieve and measure than physical prowess, but you know it when you see and hear it. Here's Tom Brady after a tough loss during a tough season: "It's up to us to change the momentum."

https://twitter.com/JennaLaineESPN/stat ... 0346331136

I also heard him today on one of sports show saying he would rather play losing football than not play football at all. My guess is he was answering the unspoken question of whether or not he regrets playing this year.
