Well don't forget that if Carr goes so does Adams. He came here to play with Carr as well as get out of Green Bay and was willing to sit out the whole year if not traded.
Again not true the bigger reason for Adams coming to play here were to closer to his family & fulfil a lifelong dream, i’ll guarantee if Carr goes that Adams ain't giving up the big pay check for Carr

But don't let his actual quotes get in the way of an agenda
I'd also be fine with one of the highest paid wrs in the league, on the wrong side of 30, leaving

Adams will bid Derek a tearful farewell then look forward to a QB who can get him the fkn ball. He was a Raider fan before he ever knew Derek.

In todays NFL $ trumps everything. Anyone who doesn’t acknowledge that or consider the ramifications is fooling themselves.
This is likely the last big payday for Adams. He’s not giving that up for anyone.

Carr, Adams, Waller and their ridiculous contracts to IND for all their 2023 Draft Picks. Yes I know I’m delusional, but one can dream.

If he balls out going forward, he would be the 5th highest paid QB in the league in average yearly salary. That means we would need to get to the AFC Championship game to justify his existance.
And for the record, that is what the expecations should be if you pay a guy like one of the top 5 elite QBs in the league, elite production and the ability to overcome a slightly below average defense.

Our current salary cap is Super Bowl or bust. The math works fine this year and next year it doesn’t.

Some of the contracts are actually going to force us into restructuring just to pay the roster next year and we will not be buyers at all, so this group either has to come together or we have to rebuild or do a piss poor job of retooling.

Derek Carr is

The one time DC played well at Arrowhead, it was early in the season with mild weather. There will be nice weather tonight.
However, it is Monday Night Football, huge divisional game, the lights will be very bright. Those factors indicate Derek will suck ass again.

... and 1 win vs 7 losses at Arrowhead stadium.388 of 621 (62.48 percent) for 3,879 yards, 24 touchdowns, 17 interceptions while getting sacked 39 times and fumbling 13 times (losing four).

If Davante won't play without Carr he would really make the decision easier, as he is a legitimate asset that could help us trade up for a QB. I'd love to keep him here as his talent is undeniable, but that talent is not worth keeping Carr as our QB

38-16 Chiefs
And wasn't that with a covid reduced crowd only 1/3rd of normal capacity or something like that? Arrowhead will be on fire tonight for sure. I am expecting him to piss and shit himself but I hope he makes me eat crow.

If it’s either Carr + Devante, or no Devante, then see you later Devante, thanks for stopping by (and I mean that sincerely, he’s a beast, glad we’re a footnote in his career).
So far, Carr + Devante has led to an offense that only puts up 22 ppg, which are numbers for a defensive oriented team. We can’t build a defensive oriented team when we are paying both Carr and Devante, that’s a formula for an offensive oriented team, which would need to score more than 22 ppg.
Sucks that we spent a 1+2 to invest heavily to make Carr comfortable (again), but in finance you refer to that as a sunk cost. Can’t dwell on it, see what we can get for a package that includes Devante and move on.
Somehow, I think if nothing changes, Devante would stay without Carr. And even at his salary, I’d keep him, if only for a year. Having a reliable top end weapon will make it easier to groom a rookie QB. But if that isn’t the case, then as you said the decision has been made easy
