I'm not sure one really can.
The best argument I've heard from Carr is "who are you going to get?"
No idea. But I do know that we will continue to watch from the outside if we do nothing. The AFC West alone has to teams set with their QBs and Denver trying since 2015 to get one and cutting their loses when who they have picked didnt pan out. Us? No "We're good, we're good!"
Ya it’s very odd. I mean are the Bronco’s really much worse off then us because they haven’t found one yet? I honestly don’t know the records but I am sure they are comparable to us even having Derek. Regardless they keep taking swings and when they miss they try again. They aren’t settling with mediocre.

If Derek isn't the problem, then is he part of the solution? Our owner may have settled it and we'll see if he is right or he is another Daniel Snyder or his father.
So who here signs Kirk Cousins to 35 a year? Anyone that thinks extending Carr right now is the right answer willing to put a 5 year contract on Cousins? Why, or why not?
Same exact situation. Sell me on Cousins please.
Cousins threw 33 TDs and only had 7 interceptions. I don't know how many fumbles he lost, but I feel safe in saying it was considerably less than Carr.
I don't think Cousins is worth what he's being paid either. He needs to be in the 38+ TD pass range to justify it. IOW, Cousins' production was well above Carr's and if Cousins isn't worth $35 million per year, then Carr certainly isn't.
As I've said so many times before, Carr doesn't make things happen on any kind of consistent basis. Once every few games he'll improvise and make a great play----he'll do something that's all him. Those events are few and far between. If everyone around him does their job, like Renfrow does in every single game, then Carr can be effective, but unless everyone is firing on all cylinders, Carr can be shut down for long stretches, even entire games multiple times per season.

This off season has all the makings of that. His statement of "this isn't a rebuild"? Just who is he trying to convince? Sure some might buy into that. But those of us who have witnessed crap since the slide began in 1986?
You're going to have to do better than that Mark. I've got Raider t-shirts far older than Carr has been our QB. Hell some of them are almost as old as him.
Point being he can say what he wants, but he's foolish if he thinks some of us are buying it at face value.

If Carr gets 35mil+ i dont want to hear the Carr stans talk about weapons or defence being an issue because that’s where the money isn’t going, he doesn’t deserve a penny of it but we’ll have to put up with it
If Carr gets that money then he need to play like an elite QB no question, no complaining he doesn't have a team around him as he has to be the one to elevate everyone else as that’s what elite QB’s do

Anyone that wants to extend Carr at 35+ , would you be willing to extend Cousins at 35+? How about a 1:1 trade for Dak and his contract?
12-15 range QB, 35 million, let me know why Cousins is good for this team.

As far as our newest staff hire, I don't find it to be all that inspiring. It feels safe and formulaic; kind of like, "Well, no one can say I made a completely stupid decision if it doesn't work out." IOW, it's like trying to cover your ass in advance of a potential disaster. I would've liked to have seen something more imaginative.
To be fair, I don't know who the best hire would have been, and maybe JM turns out to be the greatest Raiders HC in history. I sure hope so, but like with Carr, I'll remain skeptical until the win/loss record says otherwise.

I have no idea other than what is being reported and going with a gut feeling.
It may all pan out, it may not. But history as our guide says don't be too hopeful. And that predates our current owner and Front Office regime.

'18, '19, and '20 we had top 3 offensive spending and bottom 5 defensive spending.
It didn't matter then, it won't matter now. That is big picture stuff some just don't grasp.

Why else in your opinion would it make sense for a brand new HC/GM to make a commitment right away to Carr before they see how he fits into the new system?

If the extension is long term, this is 100% Mark. Hell, Mark already said as much about how McDaniels will be good for Carr and "I am willing to move on from Carr, David, not Derek".
That hand has already been played. Mark is playing GM 100%. Ziegler has been told to extend his good buddy Carr.
The extension just further solidifies the proof of it.

If Carr is extended, it will be because Z and McD wanted it that way.

I sure hope for his sake and Raiders nation they wise up and trade him away. He's just not worth $30M +, no way, dumbest move if Raiders do this. It's equivalent to giving Jacobs that money
