I couldn’t come close to even attempting a comparison between Brady and Carr without feeling wholly ridiculous. I guess I’d have to try starting at the very very basics. Somewhere before “They both play in the NFL”. Or, “They both play the same position”. Somewhere in the neighborhood of, “They both breathe oxygen”, would be my starting point I think.
No comparison with the 21 other starters. Same argument can be made. Raiders players get a paycheck from an NFL team too. maybe one Raider starts for the Bucs. No comparison between the teams.
For sure, but much like '18 - we should trade for future picks and go in on the '23 class. Hell even wait for '24. We are not within two years of our window.
Carr at 20 was a huge failure, Carr at 35 is not going to be better...
Better yet, build a team then trade for a guy like Stafford.
Can't argue with what you say at all...but if DC decides not to ask for for bank, and considering where we draft...why not bring him back for another year and draft/FA an O-Line for a QB of the future?
What if you could get Russell Wilson? Yay or nay?
I don't believe we are good enough to make it matter.
SuperBowl winners are HOF (or future HOF) QBs 8 times out of 10. The team around them generally decides who wins and a top 10 defense and offense is the minimum buy in.
We have seen Wilson with a team at our talent level and it is not enough. We have a ton of cap already spent on poor picks - we have to fix what Gruden broke first.
We won 10 games, but went 7-2 in close games. We were a lucky bounce .500 squad, that is just the reality. So many of our playmakers are either in their final contract year or already free agents.
We are in rebuild mode whether others admit it or not.
you cant convince me that you cant win with carr at 35m when you have win 10 games with almost 30m of actual dead money plus a lot of other dead weight (nassib, ferrell, littleton kwit etc). when we get into the situation that we cant extend above average players on other positions i'd gladly say cut carr and bring in a cheap rookie.
No QB in the history of the NFL has ever won a SuperBowl at or over 15% of the cap. Every elite QB included.
Ever.
Do you need further proof?

Herbert at his rookie cost though... yeah I can see that. Wilson at 40+ though, we only win 12 imo and same early exit.
26th ranked defenses don't win many SuperBowls. We have to fix that first. We are a long ways out.

I even franchise him for a year if noone looks draftworthy and he won't sign.
At 35 million it does not leave enough meat on the bone compared to a rookie or a placeholder and additional picks. Moving on at that cost is better for the team in my opinion.
8-10 win seasons kill our odds at a real difference maker. It is not a good thing.

I wouldn’t want Carr at a steep discount. His cowardice needs to be removed from the team like a festering hemorrhoid from Rex Ryan’s ass.

He is on record as saying he want's to be a Raider for life. We lost our chance for drafting an elite years ago when we were drafting top 10 all those years. It is what it is at this point. Build on this team. Now that MM is gone we can only hope no more 1st and 2nd round picks will be squandered.

I don't want to give it to him but that's where he is at in the QB market. I would let him play out his contract unless someone overpays in a trade.

25th ranked rookie + 2 picks (1st and 2nd) + 15 million

15th ranked veteran
Pretty close to even imo. Just don't Dak the damn dude. 35 million is all in.
