Someone posted this on another forum, and I’m seeing some of the same issues seven years(eighth season) later…
B/R Bleacher report
Derek Carr NFL Draft 2014: Highlights, Scouting Report for Oakland Raiders QB
Fresno State (HT: 6’2⅜", WT: 214 lbs)
Oakland Raiders
Second Round: 36th Pick
NFL Comparison: Jay Cutler, QB, Chicago Bears
Negatives
•Footwork needs improvement; he often retreats from pressure and throws off his back foot. Needs to step into his throws more consistently.
•Poor decision-making under duress.
•Average pocket presence with wavering poise and unrefined pocket movement.
•Stares down his intended target. He needs to improve eye discipline.
•Too often appears to be flustered by pressure. Can be quick to flee the pocket.
•Inconsistent mechanics, has a tendency to lock his lower half and throw with his arm alone.
•Struggles when his receivers’ routes are disrupted.
•Often late to recognize the blitz.
•Operated almost exclusively out of shotgun with four or five receiver sets.
•Not an anticipatory thrower.
•Will not hurt defenses on the ground. He has enough mobility to get by but is not much of a running threat.
•Hangs his receivers out to dry at times.
•Does not appear to see the field very well, throwing into double-teams occasionally.
•Struggled with top competition.
•College career ended on a lousy note as he was erratic vs. USC in the Las Vegas Bowl.
This scouting report is SO on point it almost feels like a troll job. I actually looked it up and indeed it is legit. There are some good positives but as usual the negatives far outweigh the positives with Carr. I’ll be damned 8 years later.
Sure but even now there is some part of me that wishes he could get back to 2016. There were games that season where he was doing everything right, had command of the offense etc. It was a mistake for us to can Musgrave.
Hell the Buffalo game that year and the Colts game up to the injury were awesome to watch, so much fun. Since then all we have had is crap for the most part.
Even in 2016 where it mattered he faltered. In KC for division and #1 seed he went 17-41. The defense gave him the ball inside the opponents 40 multiple times and he did nothing.

Time to park the Carr. No shame in being a mid tier NFL quarterback, but there no reason to commit a decade to a guy like that. Either you have a franchise QB or you're looking for one.

It really is amazing, it is a tale of two Carr's
When the guy is hot, he can do no wrong, but when he cools off he can do no right. I have never seen a more blatant display of a lightswitch QB...ever. I know there will be those who point out he lost Ruggs and Gruden but come on, Ruggs, while leading the team in yards was also mid tier in receptions. Sure he spread the field a bit but Carr is missing targets right and left. Gruden? He is completely overrated. Is Greg calling good games? Not really, but he is not terrible and on the bad calls, Carr is not audibling at the line with his presnap reads. And that sideline pout is getting old, fast. Tommorrow we go to Dallas, which will be hostile and they are going to throw everything they got at Carr to rattle his shit from the first snap. He better throw that lightswitch early if we got a shot.
You hear me David and Darren? Get that brother of your's head back in the f[raiders_icon]cking game. I know you read these boards!! Sorry if my cursing hurts your virgin eyes but I don't give a f[raiders_icon]ck. Kick that brother of yours in the ass and get his mind right!

mark davis blew his load for extending carr a year too early
should have wait until after 2017 season
now this is a golden chance to get rid of carr for good after this season, do not extend him for another 5 more years

If David is a member of this forum he probably has used the ignore function on you and dozens of others here.

I have been able to verify within a high level of certainty based on some of their tweets/comments that they visit here to get the pulse of what the fanbase thinks about Derek. They attack "negative fan comments" on a pretty regular basis.

But at what point do Carr supporters suggest it might be time for a change? Flacco won a Super Bowl and the Ravens still moved on.
