Mahomes contract is horrible.
Is it though?
Looking at the top 3 average salary contracts for the younger QB's shows Prescott at 40 million, Allen at 43 million and Mahomes at 45 million. Aside from the best statistical start in NFL history, Mahomes also won a Super Bowl so he got a little more but that's the ballpark going rate for securing good young QB's once their initial contracts come up.

Just wait until Jackson and Murray get their big extensions this off-season and Herbert and Burrow next off-season. They're all going to be right there in that range, possibly even higher. QB salaries always go up and every time the market gets reset, you have people criticizing those contracts but it's always been this way and it's not changing anytime soon. Our situation is certainly different in that Carr isn't exactly a young gun QB and he seems to love the team/organization so he might give a slight discount since he already had his "big" contract but as long as he keeps playing lights out, he's getting PAID. He's currently a "bargain" but when he initially signed, he was the highest paid QB for a short time. The further into a contract you go, the more value you get as long as the level of play is steady.

Don’t cheat yourself and wait until March ‘22, while googling stats, to realize Carr is having a great season.
You have to appreciate the journey at some point.
The misery some of you experience is exclusively because of your own very negative style of thinking.
Sure we are all jaded from losing, but god damn, appreciate the moment.
Everyone in here is basking in the glow of a great performance from our QB today. We're leading the division and going into a bye week. I mean a solid win and a historic performance today with one of the highest completion percentages ever recorded in a game and here you come with some, "yeah but, what about his pick in the 1st quarter".
Do you not see how petty you sound?
No one expects the man to be perfect, but goddamn, you would think today would be a day without nitpicking.
I agree that picking on Carr for his INT is nitpicking— he played a fantastic game of football yesterday, and truthfully he’s been balling all season. If Carr keeps playing at this level, and the D keeps playing well, and the OL has finally gelled, we could be a tough out for any team in the league.
But in the defense of the posters who are discussing the INT, this is the Carr thread. Re-started in all its glory, for the purpose of discussing Derek Carr’s individual performance. Warts and all. Even after a good performance, I don’t think it’s inappropriate to note some of his flaws. The largest Q in here is not “did Carr play well vs the Eagles” but will he be great going into the future. That’s only a productive conversation if posters don’t get mad at other posters for interrupting their basking (I might remind you that there is plenty of room for basking in the 4 different “we kicked the Eagles asses” threads).
Again, to be clear, I agree that focusing on that one play is a little more pessimistic than I care to be. I wouldn’t have gone there at all, I’m enjoying my Carr Koolaid more than some of the other Doubters apparently. But people have a right to discuss it, and if not here then where?

Derek Carr has the 7th lowest INT percentage in NFL history.
I think that going at him for a single pick in an otherwise almost flawless game is just a tad bit ridiculous.

I imagine some people are in too deep with hating on Carr so they have to keep up appearances or something.

Was it a bad pass: sure.
Was it preventable: yes.
Did it cost us points; yes.
Did it have any bearing on the game: No.
Not really anything to discuss in my opinion, it was a blip of bad judgment on a historic day passing.

Here is a link to recently closed-to-posting- Carr-mega-thread filled mostly with doubters:

My take is that Carr has legitimate starting NFL QB skills , but does not deserve another long term contract unless he leads the Raiders to playoff game wins.

Even the all time greats have thrown a few bad passes.
Mahomes got burned on one of those ridiculous no-look passes earlier this year.
I'll come to Carr's defense as to how egregious of an error it actually was. Playing from behind, 3rd and 5, pocket collapsing, no one else open. He had to roll out to the right to avoid the sack while putting the ball in a spot that wouldn't get Richard killed. Yes he should've put the ball in the dirt and taken the field goal. But he was trying to make a play. Sometimes shit happens. The body of his work in that game and this season puts the bad pass into context, resulting in a non-story imo.

I forgot to mention that Carr did all of that against a solid defensive team. Thee Eagles were 6th in yards per pass in 6.7 and 5th in total yards per game with 211.8

And as you point out, while the Eagles offense has struggled all season, their D is for real.
OL came to play and had easily their best game. Olson was on point mixing up the plays. And the Raiders look to have an array of weapons in the passing game that are consistent.
I don't think I remember reading one post this 2021 season where anyone has complained about drops.
Raider offense is coming together. The running game (Jacobs & Drake) are beginning to have success and it looks like the Raiders have two very good TEs.
Carr is making plays down the field and is dissecting Ds with short passes. He has looked fully in command and in control of he offense in the past two games.

I think his haters are nitpicking because that interception was the only flaw in one of the greatest games ever go a QB in history.
Carr did it twice. Insane.

Last season, Derek Carr made some bonehead plays but this season he is not. I surely believe it is on the head coach to teach or head coach to delegate to the OC or QB coach to help Carr learn. Derek is having a better season without Gruden. I don't know if this will happen but I want him to be a franchise QB. It can throw dimes but want him to be more consistent.
But we could have traded him to the Pats and selected Jalen Hurts in the draft???!??!????!???!?!??/
Or, "let's get ...insert every other garbage qb's name here"....including most recently, Deshaun Watson(nightmare)

man, I have to say where I was wrong was on Gruden. His play calling definitely held us back! They kept the foot on the gas when in the lead...FINALLY! So happy to see this team playing with intensity! So refreshing!
