He's much too (to?) taken up with his broadcasting career to bother with his own team.

Mendoza as of now is the obvious choice but the more I read and hear, the closer he and Moore are.

The QB should be the guy who wants to be remembered as the QB that brought The Raiders back to greatness.

Names I’ve heard as far as pro comparison for Mendoza:
Carson Palmer
Jared Goff
Justin Herbert
Drake Maye
Matt Ryan
I think a more athletic Ryan is the one that fits best, but all of those above are comparisons we could only hope to get, including 2016 league MVP Matt Ryan.
Regarding his mobility….he’s not going to wow anyone with his legs, but he’s far from a statue back there. RPOs and designer QB runs will be a thing.

I dont have an issue with Moore himself. I dont trust (as currently constructed) this team to get the most out of an upside guy like Moore. Mendoza is the safer option at this time. If I see some positive changes, I would not be upset with Moore BUT only if we lose out on the #1 pick. Mendoza is my guy. Just my opinion. Either way, they know they have to draft a QB.raidersince63 wrote: Mon Dec 29, 2025 8:25 am Mendoza as of now is the obvious choice but the more I read and hear, the closer he and Moore are.

Either is light years better than what we've had.

Good post Gmac. Hopefully we get some luck on our side whoever it ends up being. An argument can be made for a few guys (especially after the college season is over). Here is hoping one of the QB's differentiates himself in a big way.Gmac wrote: Mon Dec 29, 2025 8:33 am Names I’ve heard as far as pro comparison for Mendoza:

Either way, regardless of which QB/s we take, I really hope that whoever the coach ends up being, doesn't try to rush things with them. We have so many things that need to changed with this franchise and all of the question marks won't be answered from 1 draft...of course our cap situation should really help things too if the right GM/Coach uses our resources wisely.BoKnows81 wrote: Mon Dec 29, 2025 8:36 am I dont have an issue with Moore himself. Either way, I don't think management should foolishly perceive them as a "plug and play" candidate. Let them get acclimated to the NFL and familiar with our system, whatever system that may be next year depending on exactly who is calling the shots. Let them take snaps in practice and pre-season and then go from there.

I don't think either is head and shoulders above the other. It just comes down to who you personally like better. Either way, this team would have it's most talented qb in quite some time. I honestly don't think there's a right or wrong answer

Everything I am seeing suggests that Mendoza is more suited to a team in disarray. He has a level of leadership about him that makes him the safer bet to get us going in the right direction more quickly.BoKnows81 wrote: Mon Dec 29, 2025 8:36 am I dont have an issue with Moore himself. Moore may even stay another year. I like Moore, and at one point I thought he could overtake Mendoza with zero question. Mendoza had that one game where he seemed to take a step back but then he surged back into it.

Really all he needs to do is extend the play. Get out of the tackle box and find a guy or throw it away.Gmac wrote: Mon Dec 29, 2025 8:33 am Regarding his mobility….he’s not going to wow anyone with his legs, but he’s far from a statue back there. RPOs and designer QB runs will be a thing.

Haven't watched Moore yet this year. Only a few highlights. Will certainly watch this week.
Surprised to see they have him listed as a 4.9 forty. I thought he was supposed to be more athletic than Mendoza, but they say this...
"Rushing ability grades poorly across the board, offering virtually zero designed run threat and limiting offensive coordinator creativity in short-yardage situations."
"Athletic limitations become apparent when forced to extend plays with his legs, lacking the burst to consistently scramble for meaningful yardage outside structure."
So is his upside all about his arm strength compared to Mendoza?

Mendoza is a much easier projection imo. He plays like an NFL QB already. There’s obviously lots of things you want him to improve (like every rookie)… but his game requires very little projection.
Moore is way more of a gamble. If for no other reason then the fact that Mendoza has almost double the starting reps Moore has.
For me it’s Mendoza all day. The only concerning trait of his is that he’s had points where he really starts to feel the passrush. Either way we need to spend big on the line this offseason… Moore would probably survive better if we didn’t. I think Mendoza is more the guy we could potentially break if we put him behind a bad o-line.

Ill start by saying given our qbs since Gannom id be thrilled with either. For this franchise, id take Mendoza. Higher floor and seems to be the type that could help turn this franchise around. For someone like Andy Reid or Sean McVay Moore may be the better choice.
