We are all living in a simulation. Nothing is as it seems.RickRyb wrote: Thu Jun 04, 2026 6:40 pm I just read that Fernando Mendoza is still unsigned?!?!? Anybody know the reason?

Contract language disputes over future guarantees are usually the culprit. Also currently unsigned are...

Cousins is a good pickup because our interests our mutually aligned.Jeevo wrote: Fri May 15, 2026 5:22 pm Liking the Cousins acquisition more each day. He knows he’s destined for the bench yet he’s having fun with the guy who’s taking his job.
Cousins knows his time is short. He’s 37, his opportunities as a player are going to dry up very soon.
What does the post career look like for Cousins?
Only he knows that, but if he wants to be a coach, what better way to start your career than to be associated with the success of a young superstar? If he wants to be a commentator, what better way than to be associated with a hot young team?
If Mendoza ends up being great (please god), and Cousins helps him in the early stages, it will bolster his post-career resume regardless of what he wants to do.
This is a great opportunity for him because if he gets to start, it’s a win for him, but there’s also a huge opportunity for him to gain a lot of value by being a high-profile mentor. Win-win.
He knows that, and so do we. We know he is a good fit for what Klint likes to do, that he knows how to teach what Klint likes to do, and that he will be a willing mentor. We know it because he has said so, but also because it ostensibly lines up with his interests

Career Earnings 341 million.
Take taxes and stuff out of that 170 mil.
If he's smart he invested a least half that 85 million.
Just doing S&P alone he can profit over 8.5 million a year in gains and still have that 85 million.
So if he wants to coach, it would be telling how much a worker he is.
(Curt reads this, f[raiders_icon]ck why didn't I do this?)

Contact powskiIdea: all preseason prepare Mendoza for #2 initially. Right before game 1 announce him as surprise starter. Look him in eye and tell him "Now we find out if youre a pussy or not."
Then if he survives, or no, wins, tell him "I guess you do, got the Guts." and give him lifetime confidence.
Too risky?

Mendo rang the siren to start Stanley Cup Finals game 3. With a Golden Knights jersey (#15 of course)

There was little doubt that would happen. When you have had as long a drought as we have had at the position, any hope for a course correction will be met with high enthusiasm

Contact:
Contact powskiKubiak might be reasonably cautious that having a rookie install and run his rookie HC complex offense could be overload. Whereas it might be better to let him see, at least a few games on sideline. Maybe it would help get his brain up to speed without the pressure right away.
Not just get brain up to speed, but witness the game speed closely without getting killed.
