The veteran coach's post quickly grabbed attention. Fans, however, were not too nice to Kiffin and Russell.

Mendo a vodka beer and water.
Spy and scotch and beer.
Its a start^
In 1979, Raiders coach Tom Flores assigned quarterback Ken Stabler to room with the notoriously wild defensive end John "Tooz" Matuszak to keep him out of trouble, effectively making Stabler the
"keeper of the Tooz".
The pairing aimed to move Matuszak out of his car and manage his chaotic party lifestyle, often requiring Stabler to manage him.
Coach Tom Flores, concerned about Matuszak’s off-field behavior and instability, asked Stabler to move in with him to act as a chaperone.
Matuszak was known for severe partying and wild behavior, needing supervision to ensure he was prepared for Sunday games.
Other accounts suggest various teammates, including staff or veterans, were tasked with keeping Matuszak in line as well.
By Ken Stabler's own admission, assigning him to "watch" John Matuszak was like "pouring gasoline on a fire".
While the official goal was to keep "The Tooz" in line, Stabler was a legendary partier himself, leading to several famous stories:
Birds of a Feather: Stabler described his Raiders teammates as "birds of a feather"—free-spirited guys who "ran together" both on and off the field.
When Coach Tom Flores had Matuszak move into Stabler’s condo to get him out of the trunk of his car,
the snakes fridge was famously stocked primarily with Cheez Whiz, bagels, and Crown Royal.
Failed Supervision: Stabler didn't last long as Matuszak's chaperone and eventually moved back to his girlfriend's place because the lifestyle was too chaotic even for him.
I hope Mendoza's a bit of a party'r.
His Coach Cignetti reiterate over and over after ever win, when asked whats next, replied, have a beer.
A team that parts together wins together. Look at the 86 Mets.

Wasn't Matuszak out on the streets at 2am in New Orleans before the Super Bowl against Philadelphia? I believe he said he was out making sure none of his team mates were out. Vermiel stated he would've sent him home.KillerRaider30 wrote: Thu Apr 09, 2026 7:03 pm Mendo a vodka beer and water.

I have again requested the opportunity to buy that projector from the team. I am sure they still have it. I need that and the buried ball for my collection. I tried to get the bowl they had in the locker room with amphetamines but I believe that has been lost to time. I just want the bowl though, not the residue.

Id like to have the locker room signs. Rule #1: Cheating is encouraged. Rule #2: See rule #1. And "If youre not cheating, youre not trying hard enough."
